Koyomi Japan (koyomijapan.com) is a structured, English-language guide to Japan's seasonal travel events, built for international visitors planning a trip around Japan's seasons.
What this site does
Rather than editorial "top 10" listicles, Koyomi Japan maintains a database of individual event pages — fireworks festivals, autumn foliage and cherry blossom spots, winter illuminations, Christmas markets, snow festivals, traditional festivals, New Year events, sumo tournaments and conventions — each with dates, venue details, access directions, admission info, and practical viewing tips. Dates and details are collected from official municipal, organiser and tourism-association sources.
Events are also grouped by the city you are staying in, month by month, so travelers can see what is on within day-trip range during their trip.
How the pages are made
Pages are drafted with the help of AI tools, working from official sources — organizer, municipal and tourism-association websites — and Tetsu Yamamoto directs and maintains the site. AI can get details wrong, which is why every event page links to its official source and shows when it was last checked. Who runs it
Koyomi Japan is built and maintained by Tetsu Yamamoto, who is from Hokkaido and lives in Tokyo. Tetsu worked as a marketer at Rakuten Travel, one of Japan's largest online travel services, from 2019 to 2025, and holds Japan's national General Travel Services Manager qualification (総合旅行業務取扱管理者), the qualification for managing travel-agency offices that handle both domestic and overseas travel.
The site is independent: it is not affiliated with Rakuten, any tourism board, municipality, or event organizer. Event data is compiled from public, official sources; where the site links out to hotels, tours, or travel products, some of those links are affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure for details).
Accuracy
Event dates in Japan — especially for outdoor festivals — can change due to weather, safety concerns, or organizer decisions. Every event page shows the date it was last checked against its official source. Events whose dates are still unannounced are checked on a regular schedule while their announcement season is open; pages for events that have already finished are not re-checked until the next date is published. Treat an older "last checked" date as a reason to confirm directly with the official event site before finalizing travel plans. Links to official sources are provided on every event page.
