Billed as one of the 'three great illuminations of Kanto,' Sagamiko Illumillion covers the hillside amusement park MORI MORI above Lake Sagami in a cascading, tunnel-heavy light display that spills down the slope toward the lake itself.
Background
Sagamiko Resort has run a winter illumination on this site for over a decade, expanding it each season into one of the largest light displays in the greater Tokyo area.
Getting there
A free shuttle bus runs from JR Sagamiko Station; by car it's about 15 minutes from the Sagamiko IC on the Chuo Expressway.
Tips
- The season is unusually long, running from mid-November into the following May, so it overlaps with cherry blossom season at the very end.
- A cable car (ropeway) carries visitors up the hillside for an elevated view over the full display.
- The 2026–27 season runs November 14, 2026 to May 9, 2027, with some closed days; from April 5 it opens on weekends and holidays only. The park lists about 6 million bulbs, among the most in Kanto.
