Yomiuriland, a hillside amusement park on the Tokyo-Kanagawa border, is covered in jewel-toned LED lights each winter across its slopes and gardens, with rides continuing to operate through the display.
Background
First held in the early 2000s, Jewellumination has grown into one of the largest illuminations in the Tokyo area by light count, spanning the park's full hillside rather than a single plaza.
Getting there
A gondola (Sky Shuttle) connects Yomiuriland Station (Keio Sagamihara Line) directly to the park entrance.
Tips
- The season is one of the longest of any Japanese illumination, running from late October to early April, so it overlaps cherry blossom season at the very end.
- Because it's inside a working amusement park, rides stay open through the display — factor in wait times if combining both.
- The 2026–27 season (Oct 29, 2026 – Apr 4, 2027) runs on park operating days only — check the closed-day calendar — and on weekdays from Mar 1 to Mar 12, 2027 the park opens for daytime rides only, with no illumination. Hours are 4:00pm–8:30pm but vary by period.
