NO LIMIT! COUNTDOWN 2027 is Universal Studios Japan's New Year's Eve party, and the one night of the year the Osaka park stays open straight through. It runs for 26 hours, from 7:00 PM on December 31, 2026 to 9:00 PM on January 1, 2027, and needs a separate Party Pass ticket. The year turns over at the Countdown Moment on the Lagoon (11:50 PM to 12:05 AM) with around 5,000 fireworks across the park. From 7:05 PM a Countdown Special Stage at Gramercy Park strings together 25th-anniversary shows, seasonal-event highlights and a DJ show built on Zedd's music for Space Fantasy – The Ride, and on New Year's Day characters greet guests in traditional Japanese clothing.
Background
Universal Studios Japan opened in 2001, and its ticketed New Year's Eve countdown party is an annual event. The 2026–27 edition is part of the park's 25th-anniversary year, "Discover U!!!", and adds a first-time New Year's Eve music show, USJ Grand Music Revival, with a separate show ticket.
Getting there
Universal City Station on the JR Yumesaki Line (officially the Sakurajima Line) is a few minutes' walk from the park gates. From Osaka Station the trip takes about 11 minutes with one change at Nishikujo.
Tips
- You need a Party Pass to be in the park from 7:00 PM on December 31. Ordinary Studio Passes are still sold for the daytime: a December 31 pass is valid from opening until 5:00 PM, the park closes to everyone from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and a January 1 pass lets you in from 2:00 AM. Nothing is sold at the gate, so buy every ticket online in advance.
- The Party Pass costs ¥16,900 including tax, the same price for adults, children and seniors (children 3 and under are free). It is sold in stages: a presale for Grand Royal annual pass holders (October 7–9), a first-come Lawson Ticket presale from October 23 at 12:00 noon to November 3, and then general sale from around 9:00 PM on November 4, 2026 on the USJ web ticket store, Lawson Ticket and at some official hotels for their guests. General sale only happens if tickets are left after the presales.
- On the English site the Party Pass details link to a Japanese-only page, so expect to buy through the Japanese-language ticket pages.
- To watch the midnight fireworks from a reserved spot, Party Pass bundles with a Countdown Moment viewing area cost ¥23,800–24,300; bundles with a New Year's Eve dinner start at ¥32,800. Express Passes are sold separately on top of the Party Pass, from ¥13,000.
- The Party Pass allows unlimited re-entry from 7:00 PM on December 31 to 9:00 PM on January 1. Tickets are limited and stop selling once gone, and they cannot be cancelled or changed.
- Super Nintendo World closes for maintenance for part of the night, and the area's timed-entry and lottery tickets can only be issued once per person during the event, through the official USJ app.
