Halloween Horror Nights is the after-dark half of Universal Studios Japan's autumn season. Once the sun goes down the park streets are given over to roaming zombies, and a set of horror mazes and attractions opens for the season alongside the daytime programme. The format — street zombies after dark plus a rotating set of horror mazes — has stayed broadly the same, while the individual attractions are rebuilt each year around current horror and game titles.

Getting there

Universal City Station on the JR Yumesaki Line (officially the Sakurajima Line) is a few minutes' walk from the park gates. From Osaka Station the trip takes about 11 minutes with one change at Nishikujo.

Tips

• The park runs a daytime autumn programme, Universal Extreme Autumn ~Discover U!!!~ (September 10 to November 8), and switches to the horror line-up after sunset — one admission ticket covers both.
• Universal Studios Japan does not recommend the event for children aged 5 and under, and guests aged 12 and under need a guardian's consent.
• One 2026 attraction, Lights Out, is rated R-18 and requires signing a waiver — the park says it is the first of its kind there.
• Express Passes, which cut the queue for a fixed set of attractions including the seasonal horror mazes, are sold separately from admission and are tied to a specific date.
