The Inagawa Fireworks Festival is the joint show of Ikeda (Osaka) and Kawanishi (Hyogo), facing each other across the Ina River just north of Osaka's urban sprawl — a compact, local-scale festival of about 4,000 shells that moved to early November, trading summer crowds for clear autumn skies and jacket weather.
Background
Running since 1948 as a two-city cooperative event, it is one of the Osaka area's oldest continuous fireworks festivals, and among the first in Kansai to shift its date out of summer entirely.
Getting there
The venue is the Ina riverbed between the two cities: about 10 minutes on foot from Ikeda Station (Hankyu Takarazuka Line, 20 minutes from Umeda) or Kawanishi-Noseguchi Station.
Tips
- This is the easy, low-stress Kansai fireworks night: close stations, modest crowds, and a program that fits in ninety minutes.
- November on a riverbed is cold — bring proper layers.
- Either bank works; the Ikeda side has more food options in the station area for before and after.
- It's a fine pairing with a daytime visit to Ikeda's Cup Noodle Museum, ten minutes from the venue.
