Background
The current concrete keep dates to a 1931 reconstruction of the original Toyotomi-era castle; the surrounding park has since become one of Osaka's largest and most-visited hanami grounds, with early to late varieties keeping the season open for roughly three weeks.

About a 10-minute walk from Osakajokoen Station (JR Osaka Loop Line) or Tanimachi Yonchome Station (Osaka Metro).
Tips
- Nishinomaru Garden, with the clearest unobstructed view of the keep through cherry blossoms, charges a small separate admission and closes in the evening — check hours if you want the classic castle-and-cherry photo.
- Because the park mixes early and late varieties, it's one of the more forgiving Kansai hanami spots if your trip dates don't line up exactly with peak Someiyoshino bloom.
- Most of the park's roughly 3,000 cherry trees are free to walk among. Only the Nishinomaru Garden — about 300 trees, with the best keep-and-blossom photo angle — charges admission (¥350 for high school age and up) and stays open into the evening for the light-up.
- Open-flame barbecuing is not a general park activity — it happens only in a designated, separately bookable area ("Osaka Castle Forest Barbecue") that runs during the spring festival, not on the open lawns.
