Champagne-gold lights run along about 1.2 km of Marunouchi Naka-dori, the tree-lined street between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace moat. This is the 25th Marunouchi Illumination. From 2026 the area's winter programme is run under the name "MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY", with the illumination, a Christmas market and decorations across Marunouchi given a Harry Potter theme.

Background

The illumination has run every winter since 2003 along the same central boulevard, making it one of Tokyo's longest-running large-scale light displays.

Getting there

Naka-dori runs parallel to Tokyo Station's Marunouchi side; the nearest exits are Marunouchi Central or Marunouchi South, both a 2-minute walk.

Tips

• The illumination runs November 12, 2026 to February 14, 2027. The organisers say the lighting hours and other details will be announced in late October, so check again before you go.
• The MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY programme itself (Harry Potter-themed decorations and the Christmas market) runs from November 12 to December 25, while the illumination along Naka-dori continues into February.
• The street is pedestrian-friendly and car-free on weekend afternoons, making it an easy walk-through rather than a ticketed event.
