Around 250 zelkova trees along a 1.2km stretch of Marunouchi Naka-dori, between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace moat, are strung with champagne-gold LED lights for one of Tokyo's most photographed winter streets.
Background
The illumination has run every winter since 2003 along the same central boulevard, making it one of Tokyo's longest-running large-scale light displays.
Getting there
Naka-dori runs parallel to Tokyo Station's Marunouchi side; the nearest exits are Marunouchi Central or Marunouchi South, both a 2-minute walk.
Tips
- Lighting hours extend to midnight throughout December, an hour later than the rest of the season.
- The street is pedestrian-friendly and car-free on weekend afternoons, making it an easy walk-through rather than a ticketed event.
